Overview
The EPFL Biorobotics Laboratory (BioRob) in Lausanne, Switzerland, whose faculty member is Professor Auke Ijspeert, works on the computational aspects of locomotion control, sensorimotor coordination and learning in animals and robots. It designs and controls amphibious, legged and reconfigurable robots, including Salamandra robotica and Pleurobot, and also works on humanoid control, exoskeletons and rehabilitation robotics. Its amphibious robots serve as test-beds for central pattern generator controllers and for studying how animal nervous systems control locomotion.
